This recipe comes from a dear friend of ours that is a true southern belle. I have never had anything from her kitchen that has been less than excellent!

Ingredients:
6 cups peeled, sliced peaches
1&1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cloves (or nutmeg)
3/4 tsp vanilla (or almond extract)
3 tbls butter
Pastry for double crust 9-in pie
Preparation:
Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Set aside till syrup forms. Bring mixture to boil; reduce to low heat; cook 10 min. til peaches tender, stirring often. Remove from heat and stir in flavor and butter.
Roll pastry to 1/8 inch thickness. Place in plate. Spoon in filling. Roll remaining and top (may cut into 1/2 in. strips to make lattice). Trim edges and seal under and flute. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 for 30 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
